The School of Interdisciplinary Studies hosted COP26: Climate Action in South Scotland on Saturday 6th November 2021.

It was an opportunity to discover more about the world-changing research in environmental science being led by academic staff based in Dumfries, and participate in interactive demonstrations, experiments and activities throughout the day. Activities included:
  • Explore alternative energy sources
  • Plant a tree and find out why
  • Picturing Polar Bears: Art, Creativity, Climate Change
  • Investigate the components of peat core and learn about the long-term storage of carbon in peat
  • View posters, photographs, videos, and competition entries
  • Performances by story weavers from Moat Brae
  • Meet and hear from activists
  • Help create a bestiary
  • Get involved with live experiments and demonstrations for all ages!
  • Expert Panels to answer your questions
  • Become an Ecosystem Explorer and discover the hidden world of insects
  • Discover what you can do to mitigate climate change locally
