Dr David Waite is a Research Associate with Policy Scotland.
Through Policy Scotland, he provides research support to the Independent Commission advising the Glasgow city-region City Deal.
Research interests
Dr Waite is interested in the development of second-tier city-region economies; both the underpinning production systems at and the governance responses for these places. His research interests cover areas of economic and human geography, looking at:
- the linkages between city-region and devolution policies in the UK
- the integration of multi-location firms at second-tier city-regions
- the application of critical realism within the social sciences.
Background
David received his PhD in Geography at the University of St Andrews in 2015. He then worked as a research associate at Cardiff University and, with colleagues at the School of Geography and Planning, researched the emergence of city-region initiatives in south-east Wales.
Before commencing his doctoral research, David worked as a policy analyst in Auckland, New Zealand.
