Former Head of the Civil Service Lord Bob Kerslake will deliver a lecture on the role of the civic university which draws on the interim report of the Civic university Commission which he chairs. The interim report highlights the wider role that Universities can play in society, especially in working as anchor institutions within the cities and town where they are located. The report focuses particular attention on the importance of lifelong learning and providing opportunities for adult learners to acquire new skills or upgrade existing knowledge.
